UV COAT SKIP DETECTION:
The RKB Model 2086 UV Resistive Coating Skip™ Detection Technology
provides the most cost effective, real time, detection and
classification of coating skips as small as 1/16" (1.5mm) diameter in
any translucent web material that has ultraviolet resistive coating
applied to it. The coating, which acts as an opaque barrier, prevents
the ultraviolet light from reaching the sensing heads. When a skip, as
well as a hole, passes by the ultraviolet light, UV will then transmit
to the sensing heads where defect signal processing is performed. The
sensing head technology consists of a small, water-tight enclosure which
contains the main sensor and associated signal processing circuitry. EFFICIENCY THROUGH INTEGRATION: Unlike previous versions, the RKB Model 2086 UV Resistive Coating Skip™ Detection Technology as all of it's processing technologies contained in a single NEMA 12 rated industrial enclosure. This integrated control center facilitates both installation (By eliminating several time consuming connections) and operation (by improving accessibility and maintenance in one location). Lighting and sensing technology controls, power supplies, detection threshold handling, engineering workstation w/oscilloscope and digital processing technologies are all located in this convenient free standing console. All switching, defect indication, visual and audible alarms and equipment performance controls are mounted on the face for ease of operation. RKB's sensitivity equalizer eliminates problems inherent in with competitive designs. As a result, developed a proprietary process that allows consistent calibration across the entire web material being inspected. Variances as high as 50% in other designs have been reduced to under 5% providing reliable, accurate and consistent detection of a coat skip defect event across the entire web. No other manufacturer of web inspection can make that claim.
INCREASE PROFITABILITY:
The Model 2086 UV Resistive Coating Skip™ Detection Technology can be
quickly, easily, and economically added to existing production
equipment. This technology has been well proven with hundreds of
installations worldwide. Its performance is unequaled where coat skips
or holes only are required for detection, classification and corrective
action (i.e., splicing, patching or rejection). Our Model 2086 UV
Resistive Coating Skip™ Detection Technology can be installed on many
types of web based manufacturing equipment. ANALYSIS & REPORTING: Repeating defect detection and defect size classification capabilities are included with each Model 2086 UV Resistive Coating Skip™ Detection Solution. Large defect identification allows for removal, splicing or patching from salable material. Small defect monitoring provides what some web material manufacturers consider valuable production analysis on overall process machinery operation and potential maintenance initiatives. Our innovative on-line performance verification system allows operators and maintenance personnel to quick verify each sensing head and related processing technologies for operational aspects while on-line. Our proprietary lamp failure alarms will notify operational staff if one or more of the technologies lamp sources has failed. Our Quality Assurance Management System (QAMS) software can also be added to the system to provide.
DISTINGUISH DEFECT SIZES: Defect size classification are standard in all technologies and allow for the removal of larger defects considered rejectable from salable product. Additionally, the detection and monitoring of the smallest possible defects allow production the ability to monitor process machine performance, schedule proper preventative maintenance of defect causing areas and allow for production grading of material should a threshold of small defects per roll exceed a present quality limit. All defects are classified, channelized and separated into individual reporting algorithms with location in both the cross machine and machine direction, time the event took place and size of the event.
LOCATE DEFECTS: Every roll produced has a production report that prints out at the end of each run and includes defect types, sizes, locations (MD & CD), time, footage, total roll size and repeating defect analysis. The printouts, in user friendly format, will assist production personnel in the location of major events to be removed in subsequent processes like winding operations where the defect can be cut out and spliced or patched prior to moving to the next process or to the customer. Additional printouts available are shift, day and product reports that allow management the ability to see the overall quality being produced at any given time.
