UV HOLE DETECTION:

The RKB Model 2084 Ultimate® Ultraviolet Hole Detector™ Technology provides the most cost effective, real time, detection and classification of holes as small as 1/16" (1.5mm) diameter in any web material that is opaque and manufactured with a minimum basis weight of 22#/3300 sq. ft (35 gsm). The web material, acting as an opaque shade, prevents the ultraviolet light from reaching the sensing heads. When a hole (void) passes by the ultraviolet light, UV will then transmit to the sensing heads where defect signal processing is performed. The sensing head technology consists of a small, water-tight enclosure which contains the main sensor and associated signal processing circuitry. 
 
A small encapsulated window in the sensing head allows the ultraviolet light to enter into the unit through a narrow band interference filter. This filter then converts the ultraviolet light to visible light that is identified by the sensor and processed. This specialized interference filter eliminates the "noise" created by ambient light therefore eliminating any need to mask mill lighting. Outputs produced by this technology can be used for control or activation of audio/visual alarms, counters, sorters, reject gates and other types of equipment.

 

EFFICIENCY THROUGH INTEGRATION:

Unlike previous versions, the RKB Model 2084 Ultimate® Ultraviolet Hole Detector™ Technology as all of it's processing technologies contained in a single NEMA 12 rated industrial enclosure. This integrated control center facilitates both installation (By eliminating several time consuming connections) and operation (by improving accessibility and maintenance in one location). Lighting and sensing technology controls, power supplies, detection threshold handling, engineering workstation w/oscilloscope and digital processing technologies are all located in this convenient free standing console. All switching, defect indication, visual and audible alarms and equipment performance controls are mounted on the face for ease of operation.

RKB sensitivity equalizer eliminates problems inherent in with competitive designs. As a result, developed a proprietary process that allows consistent calibration across the entire web material being inspected. Variances as high as 50% in other designs have been reduced to under 5% providing reliable, accurate and consistent detection of a hole defect event across the entire web. No other manufacturer of Ultraviolet Hole Detection Technology can make that claim.

ANALYSIS & REPORTING:

Each Model 2084 Ultimate® Ultraviolet Hole Detector™ Technology is designed to span the entire web width for 100 percent inspection of the web material. Products can now be fully qualified prior to shipment to customers. Our Multicolor Edge Marking technologies can also be combined with our hole detector to provide positive identification of defect location, control or corrective action capabilities. By reducing time to locate hole defects for corrective action, production personnel can quickly patch or splice hole defects with minimal wasted time. Additionally, by automating the defect location process, production can perform reliable cross-check to ensure system performance capabilities.

 

DISTINGUISH DEFECT SIZES:

Repeating defect detection and hole size classification capabilities are included with each Model 2084 Ultimate® Ultraviolet Hole Detector™. Large hole defect identification allows for removal, splicing or patching from salable material. Small hole monitoring provides what some web material manufacturers consider valuable production analysis on overall process machinery operation and potential maintenance initiatives. Our innovative on-line performance verification system allows operators and maintenance personnel to quick verify each sensing head and related processing technologies for operational aspects while on-line. Our proprietary lamp failure alarms will notify operational staff if one or more of the technologies lamp sources has failed.
